Despite years of work in under-resourced, understaffed schools, we still have no contract that ensures schools are safe, staffed, and stable. We deserve a contract that demonstrates respect for our work as educators and the education of our students.
On May 1st PFT members, parents and allies from across the Philadelphia will be making the brave choice to stand up and speak out on behalf of our students and schools by participating in the “May Day of Advocacy for Public Schools”. This is grassroots work organized by rank and file educators and our allies. At schools across the city large percentages of staffs will not go to work in order to take part in a day of building our collective power to call for a contract and schools that our students, teachers, and Philadelphia deserve.
At 10:00am, we will gather on the steps of 440 N. Broad Street for a grade-in, rally, and speeches from teachers, parents, and community allies fighting for a contract for our teachers, students, and city. ALL community allies, neighbors, families, and leaders are welcome to take part in this day of advocacy that is taking place on May Day and International Workers' Day.

This event is open to all allies in the fight for education justice in Philadelphia.
Following the rally, we will march down Broad Street and join Un Dia Sin Immigrant, Black & Brown Bodies at 12:00 at City Hall.
Later in the afternoon, we will head west and join the PFT Educator Exit Rally at Lea Elementary School (4700 Locust Street), lifting up the stories of educators leaving the school district due to a lack of contract.
Please join us for a monthly open meeting to discuss how educators, parents, and students are fighting from the ground up for our schools, unions, and city:
• Report back on May Day actions around the country.
• Concrete strategies to make Philly educators more powerful and win the schools we deserve- starting with your colleagues and school community!
• Pick up a #PFTContractNow lawn sign (or enough for your whole school...)
• Childcare / Snacks / Free parking in KCAPA lot
The meeting is open to all educators and supporters who belives that we have the ability and power to defend and transform our schools. We invite you to learn about our vision and work at the meeting- or to join as a member (all PFT) or supporting member (parents, allies, higher education, etc) at workingeducators.org/joinus.
